The stupidity of this astounds me.
A Glenn Beck (FOX news) guest and former CIA official Michael Scheuer openly hoped for a terrorist attack on the United States, saying, "the only chance we have as a country right now is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States...It's an absurd situation again, only Osama can execute an attack which will force Americans to demand that their government protect them effectively, consistently, and with as much violence as necessary." Beck nodded solemnly.
essentially, what he's saying is 'if we never get bombed we wont be safe from bombing!' oh fucking no! whatever shall we do? i hope he dies. slowly. maybe by being roasted over a cannibal terrorist's fire. |

so i started anti-smoking meds today, since i can't seem to quit for more than 2 weeks without it. an interesting thing, it's $120/month for 6 months. insurance does not cover it. this seems very short-sighted to me since many people may not get it due to the cost. so the total for anti-smoking meds $720, and paying for possible cancers, heart disease, respitory problems? lots more than $720, even if 1 in 10 succeed that is less cost than any one issue smoking can lead to (it's actual success rate is 44%). so once again i am reminded that insurance compainies are made up of greedy, yet ignorant fuck-heads. |

so, my computer died last night. motherboard issue. so i need some advice, i've got a kinda crappy, but it works laptop, but i need to get some files off of the harddrive of my desktop. what would folk recommend? (i'm thinking of just getting a ide-usb cable, do these things work ok?) |

| Weekend of good part 2 |

and the other good part of this weekend was saving a dog.
we adopted blue this weeked. this is my first time adopting a dog & it's a bit odd.
it looks like she is not just min pin, but has some italian greyhound as well. (i'll never pay for the genetic test to know for sure.) and she's pretty cute. but she hasn't had the best life up till now.
she spent the first 2 years at the puppy mill in kentucky that she was born at. I think that there was some abuse at the shelter. so she is a bit scared of people. (when i was young my parents adopted a dog that was rescued from an abusive home and blue displays some of the same skitish behavior of that dog. it's different from just general skittishness.)
apparently puppy mills in the south breed tonnes of dogs and if they don't sell by 2 they simply ship them off to get euthanized. she was about to be shipped off to one of these kill spots when she was rescued. she spent a few weeks with the first foster family who funnels min-pins to foster families here in the northeast. (apparently people in the south love & are amazed by how well new englanders treat their pets) she has spent the last month with her new england foster family. this has led to what appear to be some abbandonment issues with her, she doesn't like to be more than a few inches from myself or inge. but i think that'll be an easy one to get her past.
also a couple of weeks ago she managed to break her leg so she has a cast on her front left leg till 5-25. it doesn't really seem to slow her down though.
She has a really sweet disposition though, but she doesn't understand toys, she's never had any...that just seems sad.
so if you come by have a little understanding if she is excessively shy, hopefully we'll cure her of that. |

| Weekend of good part 1 |

So friday night was very good, had a good time spinning with Black/Mail lots of good not-goths as well. but best of all was a renewal of some of my faith in humanity. for once i'm actually at a bit of a loss for words, very odd for me. but thanks to everyone who helped to replace what was stolen. friday essentially put me back to my starting point financially and that makes less stress for me. but once again being shown how great people are up here was the best. it did not erase the actions of the thief (BASTARD!), but by far it outweighed it.
